I will post a link to this on the Celebration topic, but it seemed more appropriate to post it here:
Yesterday (12-28-07), I received the Army Achievement Medal from Gen. John E. Davoren, commanding general of Multi-National Task Force (East) of Kosovo Force (KFOR). The presentation occurred at the beginning of the general's weekly Friday briefing, in front of military officers from at least four different countries. Pictures of the certificate and medal in attachments.
The citation was presented for:
RECOGNITION OF SPC WALKER'S TIRELESS EFFORTS IN COMPLETING THE ASAS-L DATA ENTRY PROJECT FROM 30 NOVEMBER 2007 TO 14 DECEMBER 2007. SPC WALKER COMPLETED THE ENTRY OF A 5 MONTH BACKLOG OF DATA INTO THE ASAS-L SYSTEM DATABASE BY WORKING TIRELESSLY WHICH INCLUDED THE SACRIFICE OF THIS OWN PERSONAL TIME. SPC WALKER SETS AN EXAMPLE FOR FELLOW SOLDIERS BY DISPLAYING AN UNPARALLED WORK ETHIC. HIS EFFORTS REFLECT GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, THE 35TH DIVISION G2 SECTION AND THE UNITED STATES ARMY.

Starting in a couple of days, I will be off the site for several days. I can't say exactly how long, but it shouldn't more more a week or so. Internet access will be very limited, but hopefully I will be able to get email.
The Staff has been informed, and a leave from my duties on here has been granted. Please help the Staff, especially KKB (my editor partner in this section) watch the General and New Comer forums.
Thank you, and believe me when I say I will miss you very much. |

Just had a few minutes to check in. Everything is fine here, and I hope to be back to my regular duties fairly soon.
I truly do miss being on here, and miss all of you, my friends.
Take care. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

Congrats on the award, by the way, to think you have time to do that, and do all the stuff adults have to do, AND mod CLK! _________________ Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon...

It would explode high in the air — explode softly — and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air.
Floating down to earth — boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn’t go cheap, either — not little boxes of eight.
Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in.
With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest.

lol Thanks, KKB.
One thing I must say, though: A good side of being on an Army deployment is the lack of a lot of the everyday "adult" things I have to do. Food is prepared and provided. There is no rent to pay for housing, and no repair or utility bills. Laundry is done for us (I just have to turn it in). I don't have a vehicle here; the Army transports me wherever I have to go. They even provide my weapon for me! lol
I don't have an apartment anymore back home, and my family is handling any bills that might come up.
About the only "adult" matter I must attend to personally is paying for my Internet.
There is a good side to being away. But I still look forward to returning home.
===========================================
BTW, I am back from the military leave from CLK. I had to go to a base run by the UK. They are lucky. They get to have a dog and cat around as a pet (sorry, I couldn't get a good picture). It was fun while it lasted, but I also couldn't get on CLK much. I miss Sergeant Mutly (the dog) and Corporal Bagpuss (the cat) now, but I missed CLK more. It's good to be back. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

Alirae:
This topic was started when I was getting ready to go to Army Basic Training and would be offline for several weeks. Since then, I have been online fairly regularly. But this topic is now used for information on my Army life, especially for news if I'm gonna have to be off the site for awhile (like what happened for a few days a few weeks ago).
JT96, I'm not sure what you're happy about. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!
