Hello ladies and gentlemen.
I am tommyguns friend and I have started an account on cutelittlekittens.com so you may ask any questions you may have about his military training. I know Tommygun well, we have been friends for a long time. I helped him prepare for military training and all of his hard work is going to pay off. I spent 10 years in the military so I have an understanding about what he is going to go through and I would be happy to explain if you have any questions or concerns. Please feel free to ask. |

I will be leaving regular presence on the site on May 30, because I am moving out of this apartment then and won't have home Internet after that. I don't actually go to Basic Training until July 5, and then I won't hardly be able to even get email.
As for the address, like I've said, I won't know the exact mailing address until I actually get to the training base. Once I get that information, I will send it in a letter (or possibly a phone call) to someone who will distribute it my family and such, as well as to people who will hopefully post it on the forums (on this topic, hopefully), and hopefully send it out in PMs to those who say they are interested.
Lauren, I will PM you later with more details about your particular case. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

Certainly I will. My training should be done sometime in February, I believe. Then I should have more time. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

MY GENERAL SCHEDULE FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS:
June 2006: I'll be staying with family, and in hotels doing some work for the Army National Guard. Limited Internet access, mostly just checking email and PMs.
July 5 2006: I ship out to Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. I'll be there the next 9 weeks or so, until around the middle of September. During that time, i will have almost no Internet access at all. I will be able to get mailed letters and such, and find out the address after I get there. I have plans to make sure you all get that address.
Mid-to-late September 2006: I go to my Advanced Individual Training at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and wiill be there until sometime in late January or early February 2007. During that time, I will have some good Internet access, but very little time or flexibility to operate on CLK. But I will get messages, and should be able to easily respond. I will know more about that then.
Probably mid-to-late February 2007: I should be home from my training, and settled back into a civilian life. I don't know what my schedule will be, but I should be back to being on here quite a bit.
There is a chance, of course, that the Guard will immediately send me to work somewhere. But even if that happens, I should still have a good amount of Internet access, and be able to take part somewhat in CLK. If that changes, I will let you know.
I hope this schedule of sorts helps people understand what is going to happen and when. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

A QUICK AUTOBIOGRAPHY:
Nothing I say here is any secret. From my website and things I have passed on to people on CLK, I can easily be identified and located by anyone interested.
I was born on June 6, 1970, in Kirksville, Missouri, in the northeastern part of the state. I lived on my father's farm near Knox City, Missouri until age 10, when my parents divorced and my mother, my sister, and I moved to Edina, Missouri, about nine miles from Knox City. After two years there, we moved back to Knox, where we stayed three years.
Then we moved to Marceline, Missouri, about 90 miles away, and stayed there three years until I graduated. (Interesting fact: Marceline is known as the boyhood home of Walt Disney, and is where he grew up.)
After high school, I went to Northeast Missouri State University (now called Truman State University) in Kirksville, where I graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. I had planned to pursue library work, but that plan, shall we say, did not work out, and so in 1993, I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and studied to be a paralegal at Kirkwood Community College, graduating from there with an Associate degree that same year.
I spent another year in “CR” until getting a paralegal job with a large government contractor. I was sent to Fort Worth, Texas, and worked there from the end of 1994 to the middle of 1995. After another short job with them in New York state, that position ended.
After that, I worked a semester in 1996 at the university I had attended, ironically in the library there. Then that summer, I moved to Columbia, Missouri, in the center of the state, where I worked for two years in the Deli/Bakery section of a local grocery store chain, until starting with my current (civilian) employer, an unnamed major discount chain, in 1998.
I have lived in Columbia ever since, up until tomorrow, when I move out of this apartment and stay with family until I ship out for my Basic Training and schooling to be an Intelligence Analyst in the Missouri Army National Guard on July 5. Currently, I am on a very long (and paid) vacation from my employer. But for two weeks in June, the Guard will be putting me to work tutoring interested people for the ASVAB, a test that people have to take in order to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces.
So, this is my life! _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!

MY FINAL CLK POST BEFORE DEPARTURE FROM REGULAR PRESENCE:
This will be my last post on the CLK forums before I move and lose my home Internet access. Right after I submit this and make sure it goes on okay, I am disconnecting my computer and packing it up to move. I have worked this post up over the last couple of weeks, because I knew that if I waited till the last minute, I could never get through it.
My time on here has been so great. There have been problems, and I have made a lot of big and stupid mistakes. But I hope I have contributed some good as well. And when I get back, I hope to contribute more.
Somehow, I have made friends with you all, despite our age differences. I will likely never meet most of you, or even hear your voices, yet you all are closer to me than some of the people I know and see everyday. Thank you.
Hopefully, I'll be picking messages every few days until I actually leave for my training at the beginning of July, but I won't be able to see too much of what is posted on the forums or post much myself. To those of you able to use my outside email, please use it for messages. The Inbox on here only holds so many messages, and if overloaded it will dump the oldest messages, I'm told. For those who have to use PMs, please only have one sent at a time. Until I pick up the messages, you can go into one you have sent and edit it--add to it, correct it, or whatever. Just go to your Outbox, click on your message to me, hit "Edit," and change what needs to be changed. That way, you don't drive off other people's messages, or even your own earlier ones.
Once I go to Basic Training, I will have no real access to the PMs or emails at all. I will be sure to have posted on here when that "cut-off" time arrives. Look at the schedule a few posts back for more about all that. And while I'm gone, I'll do my best to get you a few updates. You can go to my website-- http://tommygunclk.tripod.com --but I have arranged with a few of my friends on here to get updates posted on the forums. And for those interested, I'll try to see that you get my mailing address at training.
If you have questions about my training or the schedule, my friend MissMelissa (see her post a few posts back on this topic) has agreed to try to answer them. Just be sure to PM the questions to her unless she says otherwise. If you post them, she might not find them. Please do the same editing thing with questions to her that I asked you to do with PMs to me. And please be patient if you do not get an immediate answer.
One last thing: I know that some of you will likely leave the site while I'm gone. You might lose interest, not have time, or whatever. That is fine, and totally understandable. I just hope that, if you can, you will let someone on here know you're going. We're your friends on here, and we do care. My website also has a guestbook and email information, so if you leave but don't want to lose touch, you can go there (even if your parents must do it for you). But even if we do lose touch, know that you will always be remembered.
I haven't been able to say all I want to say, so don't take me not mentioning something as meaning that I don't care about it. Just know that I am the same person I've always been on here, caring all the more now that I'm more distant. All of you, and this site, are in my thoughts and prayers.
So, take care, my friends of all ages. I'll be back sooner than you think.

MORE INFORMATION (6-22-06):
First off, just so you know, I have a military drill this weekend (June 23-25), and so will be totally offline Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. But I'll be back Monday.
Also, some good news: I should only be totally offline from July 5 until sometime in September. What I learned was that I should be able to have Internet access directly from my dormitory room or barracks or whatever they will have us in during my schooling after Basic Training. Study will take up a lot of time, but getting messages and such should be no problem, and I'll be on CLK and the sites a bit as well.
So, I'll still be totally gone from July 5 until sometime in September, but after that I should be back.
As for people getting my mailing address while I'm gone, the plan is for someone to email it on my Yahoo account to those of you with whom I have email access. For the rest of you, my friend MissMelissa (and maybe some others) will be posting it on this topic. I can't promise it will be PMed to you, as so many have asked about it. But we will try.
So here is a suggestion if you want the address: Right at the bottom of each page on every topic, there is a link saying "Watch this topic" or "Stop watching this topic." If the link says, "Watch this topic," then you can click that link, and from from then on, whenever something is posted on here, a message will be sent to your email letting you know. That way, when the address is posted, you will know to look here. If the link right now says, "Stop watching this topic," then it is already set to do that, and you should be getting email alerts about it already.
I honestly don't know how long after I leave it will be until the address is known. Sorry.
One other thing: Some of you have offered to send treats and such to me at Basic Training. Unfortunately, those are not allowed at Basic (they are very strict during that time), but they are fine during my schooling. During Basic Training, about the only things the recruits can have like that are cough drops and Chap Stick! lol But if you can write, even just a simple letter and maybe a cat picture (or dog picture, if you wish) would be appreciated. But if you cannot write me for whatever reason, don't worry about it at all!
That's all for now. Hopefully I will have more information next Monday. _________________ Even a grownup like me has to have a soft spot. I guess cute little kittens are mine. CLK FOREVER!!
